Giving

We have various ways to give
to the work of OCC.

Many of our church family set up their giving option automatically on the same frequency they are paid, some prefer to give electronically and others prefer to write a physical check.

During our services, there are payment points available to give electronically where all major card are accepted. We are also able to receive cash and cheques via the giving area, which can be placed inside secure envelopes. For regular giving via standing order, or to give online, please see details below.

  • What if I’m concerned about a vulnerable persons giving?
Oakleigh Community Church takes precautions in our fundraising to ensure we protect our congregation, including people in vulnerable circumstances, from intrusive or persistent fundraising approaches. Our team take seriously any expression of dissatisfaction we receive regarding our fundraising practices and aim to resolve any complaints as quickly as possible. Should you have concerns about a friend or family member in our congregation donating to OCC because of a physical or mental medical conditions (permanent or temporary), disability, learning difficulties, they are in a time of stress or anxiety (e.g. recent bereavement, redundancy), financial vulnerability (making a gift could leave them in financial hardship), English is not their first language, or you are concerned they are under the influence of alcohol or drugs: please contact our Safeguarding Advisor, to speak about your concerns. safeguarding@oakleighcommunitychurch.co.uk
  • Can I give through my own company?
Yes. If you run your own business and choose to give through your company rather than as an individual, this is deducted from your profits before calculating your tax liability, so will reduce the Corporation Tax due. This is true whether your donation is in the form of money or goods-in-kind. The tax saved can then be added to your giving. to get more information about how to do it, please contact info@oakleighcommunitychurch.co.uk
  • How is Oakleigh funded?
Oakleigh is entirely funded by your giving. We do not get any funding from the church of England for our running costs. Your giving goes towards: · Keeping the building maintained. · Rent, utility bills, insurance · To the hospitality, food, and events we put on. · To pay for a minister & admin person. · Kids & Youth work, Coffee Run, · Toddler Group. · Support for various other evangelistic Christian organizations. · To printing the materials to keep people informed of what’s on. · PA & Audio equipment. · And much more etc.
  • What is Higher Rate Gift Aid?
Gift aiding your donation allows the church to reclaim the basic rate tax that you pay at 20%. Higher rate taxpayers can also claim back the additional higher rate tax either through your tax return or by asking HMRC to amend your tax code. For St Bs to benefit, it is important that you add the additional tax reclaimed to your giving.
  • How much should I give?
Each of us should give what we believe the Lord is asking us to give. It will involve sacrifice, but we want everyone to give freely and cheerfully. All contributions are valuable however large or small.

  • What is Gift Aid and why is it so helpfull?
Gift Aid allows UK charities to claim back the basic rate tax already paid on donations – by the donor – from HMRC. If you are a UK taxpayer, and have paid or will pay sufficient income or capital gains tax, Gift Aid increases the value of your donations by 25%, so it means that your gift goes even further – and won’t cost you extra. To complete a Gift Aid declaration, please click button below to fill in Gift Aid declaration. Around 1/10th of our budget each year is funded through Gift Aid. Please note that Gift Aid declarations are valid for six years once you fill one in. If you give regularly and you’ve stopped paying tax, or you don’t want us to claim Gift Aid on a particular gift you’ve made because you haven’t paid tax on it, please let us know.
